So happy

Seeing this at the bottom of the stairs makes me so happy!!  Really it makes me giddy every time I go down.  We bought skis for all of us a month or so ago in anticipation for our very first family ski trip!  I can’t even tell you how excited this makes me.  This is a huge milestone for us….Ryan has never ever been even the smallest bit excited about skiing since we’ve been married.  For me skiing is one of my very favorite family memories as a kid and now as an adult.  I have the fondest memories of skiing at Bogus Basin with the family and going off with friends finding all the “secret” tree trails.  I’m want my kids to have the same love for it as I do.

Ryan’s a gear guy and it turns out all it took to get him excited about it was to get him his own equipment.  We got it all on craigslist so it hardly cost us anything, which also added to his excitement,  and now he is super excited to give skiing another try!  My wildest dreams are coming true.

Leprechauns EEK!

Sadie has been anticipating the visitation of the Leprechaun’s with much excitement for the past week and made a trap in hopes of snaring one.   I just love her trap.  She was so creative with it.  She made a house with a bed, toilet, bathtub, towels, toys and even his very own dog in hopes that he’ll never want to leave his fun new house.  The front door is disguised as a rug that can be quickly pulled up to trap him inside.  She and her friend Reese had even planned to have play dates with their leprechauns and dogs.

The day finally came and they JUST missed him at school, but Sadie knew he checked out her house, he went pee in her toilet!  Once home she was still so intent on capturing him that we had a leprechaun hunt once Dad got home.  Can you see the terror on Sadie’s face??  I think she was equal parts excitement and terror.  Honestly though, who wouldn’t  be at least a little afraid of a sneaky little green man who likes to steal things.  I for one would!  I think it was the idea of the hand to hand combat she was about to embark in.  Unfortunately he was always just out of our grasp.

6 months?!!

I can’t believe my baby is 6 months!!  Half a year, really?? (okay so really he’s 7 months now since it’s taken me a full month to finish this).  Finn is just the sweetest smiliest guy ever.  We are all pretty much enamored with our little Finn.  Some of my favorite things he does is when he’s cracking up he shoves his fists in his mouth, and if he’s cracking up super hard, his eyes turn into the cutest semi-circles and light up his entire face.  He has finally gotten the hang of sleeping and just within this last month most of his naps have crossed over the 1 hr mark and he’s finally getting some decent naps instead of those dratted cat naps.   This is a major breakthrough from his puny 30 min. naps he’s taken consistently since he was born.  He has also gotten significantly better at night time and is usually only waking up twice.  It makes such a huge difference to only have to get up once after you’ve fallen asleep.  A huge difference.  I really don’t even mind it at all anymore.

He finally figured out how to roll over onto his tummy and now I hope he figures out how to roll back so I don’t have to keep flipping him over in the night.  He’s getting better and better at sitting up and can sit for long periods, but is still pretty unpredictable.  Finn is such a social baby and loves any attention anyone’s willing to send his way.  He’ll search the room just waiting for someone to smile at him so he can give them a great big grin.

Having Finn in our house has already added such a fun dimension to our lives.   It’s fun to think of the adventures ahead of us that  boys just naturally bring to a family.

Sadie always says, “I’m so glad Heavenly Father gave us this little boy and not another one!”

So am I Sadie!
