Biking / Camping

Last weekend we decided to venture out since the storms subsided for an afternoon and went biking at Waterton Canyon. Great place for a family bike ride. The trail is a gravel road that follows a large river up a canyon. We want to get to know as many pretty places to bike and camp here in beautiful Colorado as we can.

Just today we returned home from a one-night campout up Guanella Pass near Georgetown with the Clarks and Farnsworths. We all had a blast. It was a little chilly, but definately worth the trip! We had plans to hike and bike today, but the late night and chilly temps kept us all cuddled around the fire instead.

This is what Sadie thought about the Bears near our tent!! EEK! Thanks for the scare Rob.

Piper was such a great little camper. This chick slept better here than at home!

This is the new bike rack we got for the Jeep. We love it b/c it swings away w/o having to take off the bikes, allowing you to access your cargo area. Great piece of engineering!

New Ride

This is Ryan, and only my second post ever. Miriam didn't want to post pictures of our new truck on the blog b/c she didn't want it to appear we were showing off, but I'm much less humble than her and am dying to show it off. She'll be very surprised to see this post.

So here it is...our 06 Jeep Commander Limited. We really wanted a 7 passenger vehicle that could take us camping and biking up in the mountains and has towing capacity. I always thought I would own a mini van (one of the few men that dreamed of owning a mini van), but that dream quickly diminished when I took a look at this puppy. I found it on auto trader and made the 24-hour drive (round trip) to Minneapolis to pick it up. The price made it well worth the drive. It has a heavy duty V8 Hemi engine, 4x4, lift, off-road tires, leather, navigation, dvd player, back-up sensors, etc. I couldn't be happier!

this one gave me a good laugh

Sadie and I always have some of our funniest conversations while in the car. Here's today's:

Sadie: where's dad?
Me: in New York
S: What, I can't hear you? (she really can)
M: (turn down the radio - a little louder) in New York
S: I can't hear you!
M: (louder still) in New York
S: I can't hear you!
S: New York??
M: yup, New York
S: New York???
M: yes, New York
S: okay, okay, OKAY. Stop talking!
S: see that cirlce (a sign on the side of the road) it says "stop talking". Stop talking okay.
M: cracking up. I couldn't stop laughing for a good mile.
