4 months!

Piper is 4 months old, crazy how time flies. She is such a pleasant little baby these days. Here are the stats from the Doc

10lbs 13oz less than 5%
24" long 25-50%
15 1/2" head 10%

She's small but at least she's proportioned! He wasn't worried at all about how small she is since she is still following her growth curve well.

A few days ago she figured out how to roll from her back to her belly and now does it almost everytime I put her down. She gets so frustrated when she can't make it all the way over to her belly and will try and try until she gets it or until mom rescues her. She hasn't quite figured out how to get back to her back and doesn't love her stomach so we'll see how long it takes her to figure out that it isn't such a grand idea to keep flipping over. She just loves the thrill of going over despite the consequences

She...

-loves to shove her hands in her mouth. Both of them at once.
-dad can get the best giggles out of her
-is getting so much better at falling to sleep on her own. No more endless rocking!
-is addicted to her binky and can't fall asleep w/out it
-content and happy when she's awake

She makes us all so happy and we are so happy she's 4 months old and over all that crazy fussiness. Life finally feels normal again and I feel like I'm in controll of this little one instead of the other way around. and that is something to celebrate!

you know its time to go grocery shopping when...

the only thing in your fridge is condiments, tons of soymilk, and a thing of pinneaple. hmm...what to eat for lunch today.... now that's a quandry.

why is it so hard to find cute fabric locally?

We all know they're out there because we've glimpsed them on the internet or seen them enviously on others, but why are they so hard to come across for a deal! (emphasis on deal).
Of course you can always find them on the internet, but really I love to see and hold them so much more when picking them out. quite the dilema. A friend has informed me there are some shops that carry a small selection out in Boulder....not too far away, granted, but not so convenient either.

The twirl skirt and other skirt I made, I didn't have a pattern for. I got some tips from a friend for the twirl skirt-thanks kristen!- and then just figured the rest out. The twirl skirt you pretty much just do a circle inside of a bigger circle. Not too hard and you just make the circle the length you want it. It does take some figuring to get a good circle. The other two skirts (I made Piper a matching skirt to the one with orange trim) I looked at an old tiered skirt of Sadie's to get an idea of how to do that one and then came up with my own measurements. If anyone wants the actual measurements to give it a shot, just give me a call or email me. I'd be glad to help!

I made Sadie one more skirt, this time....a twirl skirt! and the skirt addiction continues...

can't get enough of this

Sewing! It's all I think about. I go to lay down and all sorts of new ideas start popping into my head urging me to go sew! It is definately my favorite hobby, with a close second to Books. I made Sadie this skirt and love how it turned out. I absolutely love the fabric, may be one of my all time favorites. I happened across this little gem at Joann's, who would've thought!

nothing like a good jump on the bed to start your day

thanks for making my bed Sadie!

quite the actress, it's sleep time....love the little grin

now that's a little more believable

Easter!

I think I was anticipating Easter more than Sadie was this year. It's like christmas, there is so much fun preparation for it and the excitement just builds and builds. I love this time of year. The snow is melting, little buds are blooming, you can occasionally venture outside for a sun shiny day, everything is coming back to life!

For Easter this year it was fun to be able to tell Sadie why we celebrate Easter and why it's so special. I know she doesn't really get why Jesus died for us, but she does know that he loves her and really that's what matters. I love seeing her learn more and more about our Savior.

A few days before Easter we got together with a bunch of friends to do an Easter Egg hunt. The kids all had a blast. On your marks....get set....GO!!

Sunday afternoon after church and a good nap she scoured the house for her eggs that were hidden so sneakily by dad.

She finally found the jackpot, these were a few of the fav's

chapstick, of course
speed racer bunnies. these babies are speedy little suckers.
quite entrancing
and a cute one of Piper getting a kick out of the mirror above her

I love finding new everday recipes and thanks to Sarah's new recipe blog I've found a new favorite. I made it last night and all of us just loved it. So here it is for you all to love and enjoy as well.

Pepperoni Rigatoni

Pepperoni slices
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan Cheese
1 med Zucchini cut into thin slices
Garlic powder
1 jar of Prego Sauce (Traditional Style)
2 cups shredded mozarella cheese

Heat oven to 375
Lightly grease a 9 by 13 inch baking dishLayer HALF of each ingredient in the order given above.REPEAT the same layer process with the remaining halfBake UNCOVERED for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is nice and bubbly.

I altered the recipe slightly to what I had in the house and it turned out deliciously. if you want to the unedited version of the recipe go here

who's the shrimp?

Our one and only Piper (or as Sadie lovingly calls her, "little Pipes").

(Piper, Claire, Miles)

She's a little thing that's for sure. You'd never guess, but these three are all very close in age.....Claire is the oldest at 4 months, Piper 3 1/2, and little Miles on the end there a whopping 2 1/2 months (yup, that's right. 1 month younger!! than Piper). Piper has grown quite a bit in the last month and is feeling big to me, but then we get together with her buddies and I remember she's just a wee little thing.

She is getting so much happier during the days and I LOVE it! She is quite a joy. She's been getting much more sleep during the days and we no longer have to rock her to sleep which is the greatest thing ever. Horray for the little one!!

Sadie's new love.....(and I must say, mine too)

This dress.

I made her this dress a few days ago and she has been wearing it everyday since. Day and sometimes night. She is a crack up. Lately her favorite thing to do is try on clothes. She'll come down and have 3, sometimes more, dresses on all at once, in any way she could get them on. Sometimes when we go to put jammies on we find a hidden shirt underneath it all I had no idea was there, other days she wears her swimming suit ontop of her jeans and shirt. She is quite the fashionista, making her mark on the fashion world already.
I love the way this dress turned out. I must say there isn't much more I like better than sewing something and marvelling at your work. You get such a sense of accomplishment. love it!

Just taking a stroll in her new getup
