Children's Museum

Last Saturday we went to the Children's Museum for the first time. Sadie had a blast. It was heaven to her she couldn't stay in one place for more than 2 minutes. She kept running to the next room to see if it was cooler than the last. It was totally fun, but I don't think I could do it on my own with both kids. There were way too many little holes to hide in and rooms to get lost in. We lost Sadie a few times and there were two of us trying to keep track of her, she is definately a wanderer. Gotta keep a close eye on that girl.

This was my favorite room and probably Sadie's too. It was the dancing room with a bunch of dress up clothes and scarves.

She found this magnifying glass and thought it was the coolest thing ever. Every time we wanted to take her picture she'd hold it up to her face.

And by request, here are some more Piper pictures. All dressed up for church. This seems to be the only day she gets out of her PJ's.

Piper's 2 month stats; she now weighs a whopping 8 lbs 5 oz and 21 in. long she was in the less than 5th percentile in everything. Last week before we took her in we weighed her and realized she had hardly gained any weight at all. which kind of freaked me out so I started supplement her like crazy and she is finally getting happier, and gaining weight! It about killed me to find out I wasn't producing nearly enough milk and was starving my little girl. I think she just never really got that good at nursing for some reason so now I'm pumping during the day and giving her formula to fill in the gaps when I don't have enough. I'm so glad Piper's little tummy if finally getting filled and now that she isn't starving she's smiling alot more and overall a much much happier baby. Go figure. I'd sure be mad to if I was constantly hungry.

not just a Mom

Yesterday Sadie was sitting on the couch contemplating and totally out of the blue she looks at me and says "What's your name?" I told her my name is Miriam...... then she gave me a funny shy look and wrinkled up her nose and said Mirim?? giggle, giggle.....2 seconds later...."What's your name?" This conversation continued for a few minutes and then after a while she'd randomly say Mirim and give me a shy little giggle. I just laughed, it is just funny to me when I can see her little brain just working away trying to figure something out, I'm not just her Mom, I also have a name. When Ryan came home, she did the same thing to him.

She is a tricky little thing, lately she's been waking up way way too early and we always try to get her to play in her room for a while before we let her out and the past few days she'll say I need to go potty (she knows that always gets a real quick response), or my tummy hurts. And sure enough we were much quicker to respond only to have her say, Hi Mom, I'm awake! I want some cereal. me: don't you have to go potty? Sadie: nope. mmhmm she's a tricky one.

p.s. Piper is sleeping so much better this week. We re-discovered the swing. We'd tried it earlier on and she didn't take to it at all so we gave up on it (also I didn't want her to become a swing junkie), but this weekend we tried it again for her naps and it works! She's been taking so many more naps and has been SO much happier as a result. I'll totally take a swing junkie over an I-never-sleep-baby any day.

It's potty time!!!!

This is what a girl who just went POOP in the toilet looks like!!!! wahoo!!!

Since we've been hunkered down in our house, yesterday I decided to try out potty training again and it is surprisingly going alright. Don't get me wrong we've had many an accident, however we've also had lots of tinkling in the toilet, a poop in the toilet, and yes two poops in her pants. man that's gross stuff.
On a side note, check out how this girl likes to accessorize her outfits. I totally dig it. Goggles are in man.

the results are in

It is a big fat Negative on the whole learning to fall asleep on her own. She still cries just as long before falling asleep as she did before. I really really wanted this to be our sleep solution for Piper but it just didn't work. We tried it from Monday til Sunday and I was so strong, I didn't cave in and rock her to sleep even when it was taking well into the 2nd hour of crying to fall asleep....I didn't cave when she still wasn't sleeping and it was now time for her next feeding.....and I didn't cave when my ears were ringing with the sounds of crying after a long long day.....and STILL my child doesn't sleep! Okay she does sleep, but only after alot of struggling.

I'm really at a loss of what to do now, so my current strategy is do whatever gets her to sleep. I don't care if she's swung, rocked, or snuggled to sleep, just as long as she sleeps. I really don't mean to complain so much, she really is a good happy baby when she's fed and awake, but she definately has an aversion to sleep. Even at night she has a hard hard time falling back asleep after nursing. I'm just going to stop stressing about getting her into a good sleep routine and start enjoying her happy times more. That's my plan.

I ordered Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child early this week and am anxiously waiting for it to arrive. I hope it has some good tips!

So I really want to put some pictures up, but for some reason I can't figure it out. The layout has changed and I can't seem to find the add a picture, spellcheck, or any of those other buttons....hmm
