Monkeying around

We had lots of fun at our ward Halloween party last night. I love an excuse to dress up as something ridiculous, so to keep with the Monkey theme Ryan was a monkey experimentalist, and I was a zoo keeper. I think it made for a nice little happy family. Chasing the monkey all night.

I think I accomplished the homely look quite well.
Glad to put my old lab coat to use again. Ryan thought it was hilarious to put Project X on his back.....anyone ever seen that movie?? I haven't, nor had anyone else at the party, but apperently it's about a guy who had to do these cruel experiments on monkeys so they could send them in space but he ends up "falling in love" with one of them and in the end saves them all. Anyway, I was supposed to be the good one, he was the evil one......no one really got that though. They thought he was some monkey Dr. or something. Wierdos.

We only had one small mishap of the evening. Sadie lost her tail! with a little help from a friend. Luckily it was an easy repair.

Sewing

Yesterday I finished making Sadie's dress. I made up the pattern on my own so it was all a little experimental, I wasnt totally sure it would work out how I imagined it. To my surprise it did! I made it reversible so there are no exposed seems and the hardest part was figuring out that puzzle of how to put it all together. I wanted to make a cute dress she could wear with jeans and to church and I just love this fabric. I'm getting excited for this halloween weekend. Here in Milwaukee they do trick or treating on the last sunday of the month. They assign each district a certain time during the day between 1pm and 6pm. Kind of takes all the fun out of it, but I guess it is much safer.

I never thought I'd feel this way about an appliance.....but I think its love. At first I thought I could never love my dishwasher more than I did at delivery, but now as our relationship deepens and as I recognize its vast potential.... my heart soars. This truely is more than just love at first site. Okay, but seriously this opens up so many possibilities I never dared dream of. Entertaining, no big sink full of dishes, cooking knowing I won't have a huge mess to hand wash afterwards, thanksgiving dinner! and again, no HUGE mess of dishes!! Alright enough raving about my fabulous new dishwasher. (You'd think I'd never used a dishwasher before....this is just the first time we've had one since we were married.)

Snazzin' up the kitchen

last weekend we were spending the afternoon browsing in one of our favorite stores, Home Depot, and we happened upon the coolest kitchen cabinet knobs. Right now we have some big retro looking ones that I actually quite like, but these new ones are pretty darn cool. That night Ryan found a great deal online and made the purchase. And if that wasn't enough to spice up our kitchen, we decided it was time for a DISHWASHER!! My dishwashing services are almost over, horray! We got that ordered and they are both due to arrive very very soon. I can hardly contain my excitement. The knobs should be coming sometime this afternoon and the dishwasher on saturday. What a glorious week!

Ryan and I have been planning this fun date night for forever and finally got to do it last night. We put Sadie to bed at Jodee and David's and headed out for dinner at the Texas Roadhouse. It was a first for us and we are now big fans. We had a $50 gift certificate that we had to use all in one night so pretty much an unlimited budget. That was quite the task, we ate SO much food and still we were at least $10 under. After dinner we went to see Bourne Ultimatum. We both really loved the movie. Matt Damon is pretty much one of the toughest guys ever in those movies. It was a very late night, but so much fun. All thanks to our lovely babysitters!! Thanks guys!

I'm working on a few new sewing projects that I'm excited about. Several weeks ago I made a cute wrap skirt for sadie (I'll have to post pictures of that next time she wears it), and I just got some fun new fabric to make a jumper dress for her, and I'm still putting the finishing touches on her monkey costume for halloween.

Sadie has been a bit rough this week because she's getting both of her top molars in. This kid has 12 teeth now! It blows me away. I keep thinking we're going to get a break from all this teething, but then a few more will pop up! I'm just glad its friday that's for sure.

Twilight

As I'm sure you all have, I've heard all kinds of talk about these Vampire books and I admit my interest was peaked. There are three books in the series so far and I just finished reading the first one and it was really good. At the end of the book it gives you a glimpse of the next book and it ropes you in good! So now I'm dying to get my hands on the second book. I just tracked one down and should be able to borrow it by early next week (there's a line).....I don't know if I can wait that long though! I'm in such a reading kick right now and I'm out of books. I don't know what to do with myself during nap time, my fingers are itchin for a book.
