Turkey Day

Ryan's Mom and Dad came to visit us this past week and, as always, we had lots and lots of fun. We spend alot of time playing our new favorite game, Guitar Hero. Ryan pretty much smoked us all, but we're getting better. The real competition will be on at christmas when we get all the Donohues together. We'll definately be rockin' out all break. Steve and Julie taught us some fun card games and we played a bunch of pick-two. Our week in a nutshell was eating lots and playing games; aren't holidays wonderful. Now we're back to a real week, luckily we have christmas to look forward to. Speaking of which, we put up our tree last night, something Ryan and I both love to do. Our house feels so cozy now. Sadie's of course loving the tree and is pulling off all the ornaments in reach and stashing them in random places all around the house.

Sadie was just cracking us up all week. She has started doing this hilarious laugh that is kind of deep and so funny (I'm pretty sure Ryan taught her it). Whenever she wants to get your attention she'll walk up to you and do this laugh. She always gets the response she wants. You can't resist grabing her and cuddling after that laugh. She LOVES her grandma and grandpa and will definately be missing all the excitment. We took tons of pictures of her while they were here. I'll try and pick out the best ones, but a warning, there will probably be lots.

On Wed. we went up to Holy Hill, its a big beautiful church that you can walk around.

Thanksgiving preparations

We went to the Domes they had a christmas dome, a desert dome, and a tropical dome. It felt like you were in a little paradise. Sadie loved exploring all the fun trails.

Finished product

I finished my quilt! It was so much fun to make; I really enjoyed it. Someday I should really take a quilting class and learn the real technique to it all instead of just doing my own thing, but for now I'm content to make it up as I go. I made this one from all of the scraps of the nursing covers I've made. It's my own little memory quilt. I hand quilted some fun flowers in each of the squares, which was a first for me, it took alot longer, but I love the finished look of it.

Trivia: "I wanna quit the gym"

First one to guess what TV show this is from and who says it gets major cool points from me!! Okay so I don't really want to quit the gym, but I just saw this episode the other day and it's pretty dang funny. Last week when I was working at the gym I had to make a bunch of phone calls to people who had just cancelled their memberships, ya know trying to lure them back in....j/k it really wasn't so bad, but it totally reminded me of this episode.

Sadie had another traumatizing day at the gym I even stayed with her for like 20 minutes to ease her fears but to no avail. She still made the nice lady hold her the whole time.

the Gym

I pretty much stopped going to the gym when we got married, and resorted to running outside which is wonderful, but you really can't do that all year round. During my long absense from the gym I have sorely missed pilates classes! I've tried doing them at home by myself but really its just not the same. Well luckily for me my good friend Whitney who is the GM of the WAC(Wisconsin Athletic Club) needed a little extra help in exchange for a FREE MEMBERSHIP!! This is seriously my dream come true. I'm way to cheap to spend $70 for a membership, but I would gladly trade my time for one. I'm swapping babysitting with a friend, she takes Sadie every Wed. for a few hours while I do my time and then when I go in to workout I can leave Sadie with the daycare at the gym.

I've never left Sadie at any kind of daycare before and was totally not expecting the reaction I had when I dropped her off for the first time. I put her down to play with the toys and felt a big knot creeping its way into my throat! Be strong Miriam!! It's just an hour! Seriously, not a big deal, but the whole workout I couldn't stop thinking about her. I'd abandoned her with complete strangers, was she screaming her lungs out? who knows, but the guilt was setting in strong. When I went to pick her up she had done just fine (much better than I had I'm sure). Day two, she cried a little while I was gone, but still okay. Day three, she knows what this place is now and cries and cries when I try to leave. Day four, even more crying! I really hope she gets used to this quick because I'm really enjoying my gym time. Ryan gave me a good pep talk so I didn't feel so bad about the whole thing and now I'm finally okay with it.... I just hope she is.

This morning I went to my new pilates class, and LOVED it. Sadie still hated it.
