Family Pictures

Over Christmas in California we got family pictures taken with all the Donohues, I think they turned out so great. We got the whole family and we even got all the kids to be happy and smiling in more than one! Amazing. It really was quite amazing that we were all well enough to sit for these pictures. Over the course of the break we all took our turn with the flu. We pulled Clint off his sick bed to make it for the pictures. Suprisingly, we all look healthy and happy! nice cover-up Clint!

Wisconsin Dells and Easter!

This past weekend we went to the Dells with some friends, the Dells is pretty much a city of indoor waterparks. It was a fun little getaway from all of this coldness. We left Friday during one of the biggest snow storms of the season (yeah I know not the greatest idea, but we couldn't cancel the trip and it was calling to us). We went up with four other families and rented a big condo. There were plenty of rooms to put all the kids to bed while we all enjoyed the evening. Within the hotel are three big waterparks with all sorts of fun things to do.

The first day in the water Sadie didn't quite know what to think about all the water squirting her in the face and the big kids running around screaming, plus the water was pretty chilly!! she was just shivering all over, not enjoying it a whole lot. We chilly water didn't stop us from enjoying ourselves, we rode some fun tube rides. I love waterparks!
The second day she decided this whole water business wasn't so bad and started venturing out
This waterpark was called the dome. It was encased in glass and warmed up from the sun. So much nicer than the chilly other one! I seriously felt like I was lounging in the sun on the beach.

Ryan got sick Sunday morning, luckily we were just packing up and heading home this day, but unluckily for him he felt like poo. When we got home sadie had her Easter egg hunt, we ate lots of candy and then everyone crashed for a nice long nap.

This was an aweme structure in Milan. Inside were all the high-end retail stores. I didn't know, but Milan is a huge fashion mecca. Lots of fur coats this season, take note.

The land of many cheeses

(no not wisconsin, SWITZERLAND!). Okay, yes I am FINALLY going to write about our fabulous trip. It was pretty much one of the best trips ever, besides the fact that Ryan wasn't there. I was kicking myself the whole time that he wasn't there enoying it with us, dang work! So cheese is really one of my very favorite foods and on this trip I'd say I was in cheese heaven. We ate more cheese than one person should eat in a lifetime, mmmm more cheese please. We tried all kinds of stinky but suprisingly delicious cheese. Some of my favorites were gruyere, emmentler (some of the best swiss I've ever had), gorgonzola, some tasty one that comes with dried grapes on top, and so many others that I have no clue how to even attempt spelling.

Annie and Steve were the best tour guides we could have asked for they took us everywhere and always had some unique history tid bit to tell us about. We went to some great cities, Zurich, Solothurn, Zermatt (this is where the matterhorn is), and Milan Italy. Here is a little taste of all our adventures.





This is the great Matterhorn. We had fun exploring the small village near it. We saw a neat graveyard full of climbers who met their death climbing the Matterhorn and later that day took our turn sledding down the mountain (a near by mountain not THE mountain) on little wooden sleds. That was so much fun!







This is the Chateau de Chillon. The first Castle I've ever been to. It was so extensive. The rooms and chambers just went on and on and all the secret passageways, it was pretty cool. I felt like I was walking in the midieval times. It was so cold in the castle quite unfortunate for all of the prisoners stuck up underground in those dungeons. Luckily they had a secret passageway that led them down to the lake where their getaway boat would be waiting.

This is the reason we actually came to visit! Just for you Maren! We attended her blessing and got to experience a german speaking ward. Thanks for being born Maren.

We took an overnight trip to Milan Italy. Everyone loved all the birds. I'm afraid they loved Mom best.

This was also in Milan and is definately the neatest church I've ever seen. It was awesome, so intricately carved. We climbed all the flights of stairs to the top where you could walk all over on the roof enjoying the spires. Totally reminds me of the Salt Lake Temple. (props to annie for the great picture).
