3 hours!

Ah the simple pleasures of life. Sadie took an unprecedented 3 hour nap this afternoon. That's right 3 hours!! Shocker I know. That just made my day today, what a difference an extra hour can make. Although the only down side was I didn't want to start a big project because I just new the very second I started I'd hear squawking from the back room letting me know she was ready to play. So really I wasn't quite as productive as I should have been, but I sure enjoyed it none the less.

I am making a quilt and have just started hand quilting it together. I'm realizing it's really hard to get nice small stitches, really I don't know how people make them so small. My fingers are getting a little sore already and I've just started. This will be a fun project to work on while we watch shows at night. (Speaking of shows, we really need some new shows to watch for this fall. With Lost not starting till winter I'm not sure what we're going to do without it, any suggestions are welcome). I'm getting excited to finish this quilt, it's made from the scraps of all the nursing covers I've made. Well this little project will be occupying my time for the next while I'm sure. I'll post pictures once it's all done.....that could be a while.

For those of you who want a cool skirt like the one I made, come out here to visit and I'll teach you how to make one!! A little incentive to get some visitors out here in the midwest.

BYU Football is Here!

I've never posted a blog before, but I felt I needed to let out my excitement. BYU home opener against Arizona is less than a week away and I'm counting every minute until kickoff. I smell victory! We're trying to teach Sadie the BYU chant before the season starts, but everytime we do, she just laughs at us. Ra, ra, ra, ra, ra...Gooooooo Cougars!

Reminiscent of colic days

Last night was all too familiar to the LONG LONG nights we'd spend swinging the carseat for hours on end for the first 4 months of Sadie's life. Sadie's been sleeping great for the past few months but now that she's teething she's been waking up at night again and each night seems to get progressively worse. Last night was the worst. She woke up around 9 and you could tell her teeth were hurting lots, but it was a little too soon for more medicine so we tried rocking her and putting her back in bed. We did this probably 4 or 5 time (you lose track after the 2nd or 3rd try) over the next hour. After many failed attempts to get her to fall back asleep we gave her some medicine that we thought would for sure do the trick. Nope, as if we'd be so lucky! Our next try was to bring her out and let her play in the living room with us to get her mind of the hurt. That calmed her for a bit but the second we tried to put her back in her bed she's remember the pain. As a very last resort I decided to nurse her in her room and put her in her bed very very sleepy. That seems to always work right? Nope, not last night! What do you do when your last resort fails?? We were counting on that one and really didn't know what else to try. Next we tried letting her lay in bed with us. What kid doesnt' like that? Sadie. By this time its 11pm and we're both getting really tired (I swear you get more tired when you know you can't go to sleep. On any other night we'd still be up at this time, but tonight we were exhausted) and Sadie's had it and we can't even calm her down anymore. So now as a very very last attempt we went for a drive. That outta do it. We took a nice long drive were reminded of why we love wisonsin so much! We drove through this beautiful neighborhood with huge big trees everwhere and the houses tucked back away from the road a ways. The houses were all these huge old mansions that looked so impressive behind all of the mature trees and shrubbery. It felt like you were in the forest with these big surprises here and there. Pretty much our dream neighborhood. After 45 min. of driving Sadie finally fell asleep and we drove home with happy thoughts of wisconsin in our heads.

An another note I've been wanting to post a picture of my new skirt I made. We made them a few weeks ago for an enrichment night. It is a wrap skirt.

oh wait! There's more.....it's REVERSIBLE!!

Sadie's 1st Birthday

Our little girl is 1!! I can hardly believe it. This past year has gone by so quickly and she's changing so much its fun to look back at a year ago and remember all the exciting firsts she's had since then. On her birthday on Sunday she gave me a special little treat and started saying momma. She's been saying daddy for a long time now I'm glad she decided to include me. I really think she might actually know that mom goes with me and dad goes with ryan. yeah! Sadley, Sadie had the worst fever she's ever had on her birthday. I stayed home from church with her and let her sleep all day. The cruel culprit was that she's getting a ton of teeth right now. One of her bottom front teeth, and then both of her bottom molars. Once these three finish poking through that brings her teeth count to 10! holy smokes that's alot of teeth!! Dispite Sadie not feeling the greatest we decided to still have a few friends over to help celebrate her big day. It was a beautiful night so we played outside for a bit then took the party inside for a little cake and ice cream. Sadie had her very own little cake (without frosting since she's been a bit sensative to dairy), I'm not really sure if she actually ate much of it or if she just poked, prodded, smushed and played with it. Either way she had fun doing it.

She got all kinds of fun new toys that I'm sure she's just dieing to play with. It turned into a very fun evening dispite the sick day.

please don't laugh too hard at my sad attempt at a cute cake. It appears I need a little cake decorating practice.

she's all set to go jogging with mom now

Camping

Friday night we went car camping with some friends and had lots and lots of fun. We went to a place not too far away, it was great, you could hear the insects humming, babies crying, cars zipping past on the freeway, an ambulance here and there....you know the usual camping noises. So, it was Sadie's very first camping experience. She loved being outside, crawling around on the grass, eating twigs and trying to crawl into the fire, but she HATED the tent. hmmm..... Everytime we'd go near the tent to try and put her into her bed (pack-n-play), she'd scream like crazy. Really, she just absolutely hated the tent. We tried so many times to rock her and get her so sleepy that she'd forget where she was but everytime we'd lay her in, she be okay for a second and then she'd remember! and she'd cry and cry. So eventually after lots of trying, we brought her out and let her hang out by the fire. Her eyes were as big as saucers she was totally zoned from no sleep. Around 11pm we were finally successful with getting her to sleep and were pooped ourselves so we all hit the sack. The night was fairly uneventful and we woke to a tasty breakfast of pancakes, hot dogs, and smores. mmmm delicious. Hopefully we'll be doing that again sometime soon!
