Piper’s monster

One of Piper’s funny little quirks is that she likes to imitate sounds, facial expression, and actions of people, animals and random things .  It’s usually pretty comical.  For example, she told me she heard a [insert coyote howl repeatedly] in her bed and it scared her.  We have a bunch of coyotes that live in the field behind our house and we frequently hear them howling in the wee hours of the night.  Yesterday she started telling me a story of what she heard in her bed last night with all of her funny sound effects. Here’s her story in her own words.

Piper:  “In my bed my hear maam maan maan [a chewing noise].  At night time I a bonk bonk bonk [stomping her feet]  in my bed.”

Me:  Oh my what was it?

Piper:  “ He has blue eyes and no shirt on him.  He has a hat on him.  He so scary.  He says maan maan maan and bonk bonk in my bed.  The monster scares me [insert the cutest shivery scared look].

Me:  That sure sounds like a scary monster Piper!

Piper:  “He scares me!”

This conversation lasted several minutes with lots of acting out of this super scary monster and lots of repeating of what he looked like in her halting speech.  This is one of my favorite conversations Piper and I have had.  If only I caught it on video!  Piper has the cutest way of talking.  Talking has not come easy to this girl.  She has struggled to get her point across ever since she learned her very first words.  Words that only she understood.  She thinks about each word before she says it and pauses after each one making one cute choppy sentence.  Thankfully just recently she has gotten a lot easier to understand which equals a LOT less frustration on her part and a LOT happier momma on my part.
