Finn Donohue
Finn Allen Donohue
born: 8/18/2011 8:18am
7lbs 5 oz.
19in long
The morning started bright and early we headed to the hospital at 5:30am. I was a little nervous for this c-section….the surgery naturally made me nervous. There were a lot of things from the last one I was hoping wouldn’t be repeated: nausiousness, tons of anxiety, itchy belly afterwards, crazy loopy feeling….but I was mostly just hoping that this little guy wouldn’t have to go directly into the NICU for days like Sadie and Piper did.
Getting prepped with IV fluids and what not.
My good friend Rachel offered to take pictures during the C-section. She captured our whole journey. I can’t even tell you how much I love the pictures she took. I am so glad we have these to look back and remember all the little details of the day. Rachel, you are seriously the greatest!
We had a fun surprise right before going into surgery. The nurse on the left was going to be in surgery with us, but she was also the baby nurse that was at Piper’s delivery and was there most of the time she was in the NICU. She came in and right away and said I remember you two! She even remembers Piper’s name and how old she is now!! I was so impressed. I felt so much better having someone who knew some of our history with our babies breathing issues when they were born. I knew our little Finn was going to be in good hands.
Last words of advice.
Surgery time! I’m not sure I even want to know what all those are for.
I started off feeling really anxious and shaky, but was able to relax fairly quickly. Once I found my “happy” place (eyes shut tight) I was able to stay calm and felt good the rest of the time.
Finn came out just as healthy as ever! He wasn’t happy about his entrance into this life, but we sure were! With the other two births I never felt that immediate connection with my babies, but this time I felt the most overwhelming feeling of gratefulness that he was here safe and sound and that everything was going so well. This was by far the best C-section out of the 3. I know a lot of prayers were answered with Finn’s birth and I couldn’t be more grateful! He is just so darn precious.
Proud Dad!
I really can’t get enough of this little boy. Every time I look at him I just want to squeeze him. Babies are just the greatest little miracles in our lives. We are so blessed to be able to raise these little tiny spirits. Heavenly Father sure puts a lot of trust in us! I’m glad he does. We love the heck out of you Finn! We’re so glad you’re a part of our family!
