early morning swim
This morning for the first time this summer I took this big belly out for some lap swimming!! Hooray!!! It was haard to get started. I felt like my lungs were going to explode. Luckily after a few laps it all evened out and I was able to swim without feeling like I couldn't breathe. This is the perfect pregnant workout. I'm hooked for the summer. (If I can wake up that early that is). I was getting so bummed that I can’t do any real workouts this summer…..no road biking/mt. biking, running…… pretty much all the things that I look forward to so much for summer time. I am so happy swimming is so lovely! I’ll feel a little better now even though my beautiful new road bike will be sitting in the garage longing for me to ride her. Next summer my dear.
Speaking of swimming, we just got back from our trip to Dallas to see Ryan’s Mom and Dad and it was so wonderful. It was hot hot hot and we loved every minute of it. Steve and Julie just put in a new pool and we took full advantage going swimming every day. The hot Texas heat is tolerable when you know you can go home and jump in the pool. I decided I could easily stay there all summer and spend all of my days out by the pool. I almost did. I honestly would have stayed if I could have figured out a way to make it work.
The majority of our pictures were of us swimming since that’s what we did most of our time so here they are.
Our goal (more like Ryan’s goal – I doubted it’s plausibility) was to teach Sadie how to swim during our week long trip. We really just haven’t had a lot of pool time since we don’t have easy access to one so it was a whole new experience for the girls. The both started off very timid, Piper wouldn’t even sit down in the water but after a few days they were so much more comfortable. Sadie really wanted to know how to swim, but was very determined not to learn it our way or on our time, it had to be when she wanted to. So she spent a lot of time on this noodle.
I don’t think this has ever happened to Piper before where she has fallen asleep eating. We wore that girl out.
This was a classic Sadie face all week. She was being a bit shy and quiet. She wasn’t her talkative self. She seemed older to me.
a nice belly shot for ya
Sadie finally got brave and would try and swim but her feet were straight underneath her so it was more of treading water there was not a whole ton of forward motion but she would eventually make it to the side.
She got to be quite an expert at back floating.
We found this little gem of a shirt at a local thrift store. We were all pretty excited.
This was our last day. We swam for HOURS during the day and into the night. This was Sadie’s magical day, something just clicked in her and she started swimming. Swimming with her little bum up and actually moving forward. By the end of the night she could swim across the whole pool. I was so proud of my little swimmer! The one I totally doubted, but proved me wrong. She even let Ryan dunk with her which she had absolutely refused all week long. Piper had been in and out of the pool several times before dark and was stripped down ready to go in when she decided she wanted to join the party again so she had a nice little late night skinny dip and loved every second of it. Piper wanted to swim so bad she would kick her legs like crazy and flail her arms in her crazy attempts. We were always holding her tummy, she sure thought she was doing all the work though.
I think this is the only action shot we got of Sadie swimming. So proud!
And that was our trip. We swam, ate good food, shopped and sat around and talked. It was the absolute perfect vacation! I think we all needed this. It felt like a long winter. Now that we’re back Denver is finally starting to get warm. Yay for the beginning of summer.
